Hot Springs Island
This week there was a lot of ambling around. The players descended into two separate tunnel systems that extend for miles beneath the islands too, and I think I need to put together a basic underdark map for the region. More of a pointcrawl than a full map, but just enough that I’m not totally making it up: the two tunnel networks should intersect, there should be points of interest, there should be connections to points on the other islands, there should be a chance of getting lost, etc.
Maybe it’s finally time to bust out Veins of the Earth.
Miscellaneous
I have fallen down the mechanical keyboard switch rabbit hole today.
For some reason Youtube recommended me a bunch of videos about people’s desk set-ups, I put one on while eating lunch the other day, and it was like Eve eating the apple: I was cursed with knowledge.
You see, I’ve had a kind of unconscious dissatisfaction with my keyboard for a while. It’s a full-size mechanical keyboard that I’ve had for probably over a decade at this point. It does feel nice to type on, but it’s quite loud. I intentionally type more softly when on voice calls as it is picked up by my microphone. And it’s large, but I never use the numpad so that’s just wasted space.
So I’ve found myself looking at smaller keyboards. But I’d also want it to be quiet enough that a microphone won’t really pick it up, but nothing comes with silent switches by default, so I want a keyboard that has swappable switches. And if I’m swapping the out switches I need to know which ones to get. And there’s way more types of switch than there were when I got my current keyboard back in the day…
I think I have an idea for what I want to get, but I’m going to give it a little while as while a smaller, quieter, keyboard would be nice it’s not exactly necessary, and it will end up being a few hundred pounds.
